Shawn Russell Waters

Shawn Russell Waters, age 49, died at the home of his parents on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from colon/liver cancer.  Shawn was born in Savannah, Georgia, on July 23, 1973, to Russell Terry and Pam Waters.
After graduating from Glennville High School, Shawn attended Georgia Southern University and Kennesaw State College.  Before the onset of his illness, he was an event planner and designer, owning his own business in Atlanta.  His floral creations were featured in the Atlanta Magazine.
Shawn loved the performing arts and was named Best Actor in the region in high school.  He also loved to dance, and he danced with the former Osjha Anderson in the annual Anderson Christmas Musical for almost ten years, choreographing, along with Angie Anderson, many of the dance routines. He also was an active Tattnall 4-H member and excelled in competitions.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Glennville, where he enjoyed the youth activities and the performing of skits.

Shawn is survived by his partner and loving caretaker, Dwayne Williams, to whom credit is bestowed on extending Shawn’s life; his parents, Russell Terry and Pam Waters of Glennville; his brothers, Ryan Waters of Valdosta and Brandon E. Waters of Tyler, Texas; a sister, Dixie Waters of Glennville; uncles:  Steve Stiegman, Kenneth Waters, and Mark Dasher, all of Glennville; an aunt, Glenda Stiegman of Charlotte, North Carolina; and several other relatives.
Shawn was pre-deceased by an aunt, Connie Dasher Doolittle; an uncle, Glenn Stiegman; and cousins, Garrett Stiegman and Kyle Waters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m.. in the Chapel at Glennville Funeral Home on Thursday, November 3,  with visitation at 2:00 p.m. preceding the service.
Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Glennville Rotary Club, P.O. Box 364, Glennville, GA  30427; Tattnall County 4-H, P.O. Box 580, Reidsville, GA  30453; or to the charity of one’s choice.
