Aaron "Steve" Stephen Daughtry

Glennville/McIntosh County

Aaron Stephen Daughtry, age 91 born February 25, 1924 and entered heaven on August 17, 2015. He was a native of Tattnall County and retired to McIntosh County in 1990. Steve served in the US Air Force during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He farmed the land where he was born and was also a letter carrier in Glennville for 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. His life was centered around serving God and taking care of his beloved wife and family. Steve was an elder and charter member of Cornerstone Bible Church, serving as treasurer for many years. In his spare moments, he could be found fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melda Anderson Daughtry; parents, Walter and Georgia Daughtry of Glennville; brother, Grady Daughtry of Brunswick and a sister, Eloise Glover of Johnston, SC.

He is survived by his daughter, Leah Wilson of Jesup; sons, Craig (Pat) Daughtry of Columbia, MD and Philip Daughtry of Townsend; grandchildren, Bryan (Joy), Cavan, Aaron, Allie, Will and Wendy Daughtry; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Emma.

Family will receive friends beginning at 10:30am, Friday, August 21, 2015 with funeral services to follow at 12:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation Services and Burial. Interment will follow at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors rendered by the US Air Force.

Pallbearers will be Dale Anderson, Jimmy McCurdy, Tommy Hilliard, Andy Perkins, Wayne Tatum, Billy Neal Parker, and Russell Belding.
