Adren S. Carroll, age 80, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her residence in Homerville.  She was born and raised in Brentwood Arkansas but moved to and went to work with the Department of Natural Resources.  Adren was Assistant Park Manager in Fargo GA, before moving to Tattnall County in 1982 where she was named Park Manager at Gordonia-Altamaha State Park; until her retirement.  She was a wonderful cook and was renowned for her peanut brittle, which she was quick to share with so many in the community.  One of her passions in life was helping others.  An old song says, “There are Angels Among Us, Sent Down to Us from Somewhere Up Above”, and Adren was an example of the inspiration for those lyrics.  She would quietly take canned food items to those in need throughout the community and help in other ways without any fanfare, or recognition.  Her loving kindness and generosity were matched only by her discretion and desire to work “behind the scenes” in service to others.  During her years in Reidsville, she was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church (Reidsville).  Following the death of her late husband, she moved to Homerville to be nearer to her family.  Adren was a kind and loving person and will be deeply missed.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ruby West Smith; siblings, Jimmy Smith and Wanda Vest; her husbands, Eugene Johnson and Dean Carroll.

Left to cherish memories of a life well lived are her children Marty (Lisa) Johnson of Fargo GA, Curtis (Teresa) Johnson of Homerville , Christie (Charles) Courtemanche of Tallahassee FL; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
