Albert Earl “Rawhide” Partin, age 77, passed away from a sudden illness on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Memorial University Health in Savannah. The lifelong Toombs County native lived and worked his entire life in the Johnson’s Corner area of the County and was of Church of God faith. “Rawhide” was his nickname given to him during his 25 year career driving log trucks with NeeSmith Timber Company. He truly loved his job and was heartbroken when he had to turn in his CDL’s due to age. In his free time, he loved to go fishing, tell short stories, and singing. With his comical stories and songs he adapted to his life; he was always the life of any gathering. No other time of the year allowed his personality to shine like the Christmas season. Every year he would transform into Santa Claus for his grandkids and the company Christmas party. He truly was loved by everyone who met him. “Rawhide” as he was affectionately known to his friends and co-workers, but HERO is what he was to his family. As the head of his family; all the children and grandchildren looked up to him. He will be sorely missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and 4 brothers.
Left to celebrate his life and the great times they shared are his wife, of 28 years, Glenda Partin of Lyons; 2 sons, Lester Earl (Alicia) Partin of Lyons and Kirby Lee Partin of Augusta; 5 daughters, Sheila (Garry) NeeSmith of Lyons, Lisa (Keith) Gillis of Lyons, Debra (Lee) Aleywine of Lyons, Sissy Stone of Lyons, and Jennifer (Andy) Coursey of Vidalia; 2 sisters Geneva (Wilbur) Fiveash of Lyons and Ruby Nell Morris of Glenwood; 14 grandchildren, Ramie (Ryan) Davis, Chasity (Recy) Lillard, Ashley NeeSmith, Buddy (Kristen) Hartley, Leslie (Joey) Beasley, Kelly Grantham, Michelle Conner, Lacey Aleywine, Tristin Maton, Savannah Maton, Nathan Stone, Grayson Wood, Gibson Wood, and Jameson Coursey; 8 great-grandchildren, Riley and Kennedy Beasley, Peyton Hartley, Cheyenne and Ethan Kircus, Rider Coleman, Josie Grantham, and Macon August; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and extensive number of friends also survive.
