Glennville
Rilleford Alexander (Alex) Odom, age 80, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Glenvue Health and Rehab surrounded by his family. He was born in Glennville on November 13, 1938 to Coy and Susie Barrow Odom. He attended Glennville High School and spent his early years farming on the family’s farm. Alex later moved to Savannah and married his loving wife of 32 years, Martha Hightower Odom. He spent his career as a truck driver working for CTL and later Fleet Transport where he retired. Alex traveled the country and in later years his wife joined him where they enjoyed seeing many parts of our beautiful nation. After retirement, he enjoyed working part-time as a security officer. In recent years, you could find him watching his favorite Westerns, drinking Pepsi and enjoying visits with his family. Alex is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Martha Odom Rogers and grandson, Andy McCurry.
He is survived by his children, Denise McCurry (Fred Seckinger), Dell Lamb (Linda), Donnie Lamb (Cheryl Butler, Marsha Bell and Ann Baker (Mark); two sisters, Margie Bowen of Glennville and Frances Pate of Owensboro, KY; nieces, Ashlea Anderson (Brad) and Cindy DeLoach of Glennville; nephew, Timmy Bowen (Connie) of Glennville; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm from the Glennville Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11am on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from Hillcrest Abbey West in Savannah, Georgia with Reverend Lionel Marmolejo officiating.
