Saint Simons Island
Allan Rue passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 24, 2016 at Magnolia Manor on Saint Simons Island, Georgia after a brief illness. He was born in Washington, D.C. on August 25, 1931 and later moved to Sea Island with his family. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in forestry engineering. He went on to become a Builder / Contractor and his projects included several high rise condominium buildings on St. John’s Island, Vero Beach, West Palm Beach and Naples, Florida and a cruise ship pier in Port au Prince, Haiti. He enjoyed piloting several boats including The Rebel Yell, a fifty-three foot yacht. He also received his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying both Bonanza and Cessna aircraft.
He is survived by his daughter Frances Gayle Rue and Larry Evans of Brunswick and his long-time best friends, Frances Turner and Ron Nicksic of Big Pine Key, Florida.
The Family extends very special “Thank You” to Dr. Mitchell Jones and the caring staffs of Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, Magnolia Manor and Hospice of the Golden Isles.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Hospice of the Golden Isles or the Humane Society will be appreciated.
A private graveside service will be held at Christ Church at a later date.
Low Country Cremation Services and Burial is serving the Rue family.
