Anna Laura (Jarriel) Johnson

October 11, 1934 — December 2, 2019

Collins

Mrs. Anna Laura Jarriel Johnson, age 85, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at her daughter, Patricia’s home in Cobbtown and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.  She was born October 11, 1934 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Samuel Newton and Mamie Alma Higgs Jarriel. She and her husband, Windell moved to Collins and made Tattnall County their home in August 1969.  Mrs. Anna Laura was a seamstress that retired from Meridy’s Uniforms after many years of serving businesses across the area. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and sewing.  Throughout the years she proved that she was a woman devoted to faith and family.  As the matriarch of the family, she worked to ensure her family’s every need was met, and above all that each member of the family knew that they were loved.  As a woman of great faith, she was active in her church, Collins Full Gospel Tabernacle.  Among her many contributions to the growth of the church; she began the Children's Church, the CA’s (a young adult group), and the Women's Ministry. Spreading the timeless message of God’s never-ending love and mercy was where she found inner peace.  In times of solitude she could be found studying God’s word to find new insights into the Promises of her Lord and Savior.  After a lifetime of labors; we can say with confidence that the Lord has delivered on the promises He made to her. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Windell Johnson; son, Wayne Johnson; granddaughter, Michelle Anderson Daley and a brother, Charles Jarriel.

Left to celebrate a life well lived are her children, Patricia (Dennis) Thompson of Cobbtown, Debra(Danny Ray) Collins of Cobbtown, Katherine (Todd) Gromes of Claxton, Lavonna Johnson of Waynesboro, and Sam (Belinda) Johnson of Gum Branch; siblings, Jeanette Fritz of Spokane, WA and Robert (Rose) Jarriel of Okeechobee, FL; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends on Thursday beginning at 5:00pm at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Collins with the Reverends Andrew Nelms and John Love officiating.  Interment will follow in the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
