Mrs.  Annie Ruth Fort Edwards, 73 of Collins went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.   She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Ruth was a native of Collins, Georgia, but lived many years in the Johnson Corner area of Toombs County where she raised her four children.  She was a faithful member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church for many years before moving back to Tattnall County to raise her granddaughter.  She was a seamstress for Oxford Industries and Toombs Manufacturing.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin  Franklin Fort, mother, Sallie Lovette Fort, brother, Benny Fort, and baby sister, Betty Fort.  Also preceding in death was Milford H. Edwards and Ruth’s beloved daughter, Christy G. Edwards.

She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Harrington of Collins, as well as three children, a son, Venson Edwards of Johnson Corner, a daughter, Tarrie Edwards Mixon and husband Mitchell Mixon of Graham , NC, and a son,  Jason Edwards of Johnson Corner.  She is also survived by devoted granddaughter, Jessica Kelley and Grandson-in-Law Eliseo Quintero of the home, granddaughters Alexandria Mixon and Zoe Mixon, and a very special great-granddaughter, Christy Quintero.   She was also survived by several nieces and nephew as well as beloved sister-in-law, Gail Fort and Aunt Robie Fort.

The family will receive friends on  March 24, 2018 from  10:00am to 11:00 am at Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary with the Rev. David Moxley officiating.   Burial will take place at Rocky Creek Cemetery directly following the memorial service.
