Reidsville GA
Arletha Vickers, age 60, passed away on Monday February 15, 2021 after an extended battle with cancer. The Reidsville native left the area in her early 20’s to move to Miami. In her late 40’s she met her husband and the couple moved back to his hometown of Brunswick. After being diagnosed with cancer, she began to reflect on life and how best to spend each and every day; with those thoughts in mind, she moved back to Reidsville a year ago to be near her siblings. For all of her life, Arletha would be the first to step up and help those in need. Her family recalls her giving spirit as one that would give her last dollar to someone if they needed it. This kindness and spirit to help others made her occupation in healthcare a natural fit. For many years she would put others needs in front of her own. The one exception to this was when she was determined to attain her high school diploma. After being out of school to attend to others, she set her mind to attain her diploma and was able to accomplish this milestone just a few months before her son graduated! Her most favored times in life, however, was when her whole family would get together and she would fry blue crabs to go along with the gathering. One who gave of herself unconditionally, today she has gained the glories that Heaven promises; her family rejoices in her victory! She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Mincey and Annie Bell Dukes Mincey and a son, Javon Johnson.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her sons, Eric Johnson of Brunswick, and Jason (Shamarli) Johnson of Miramar FL; husband, Joseph Vickers of Brunswick; brother, Kenneth Mincey of Orlando FL; four sisters, Denise Williams of Claxton, Sylvia Mincey of Claxton, Brenda (Burnis) Johnson of Vidalia, and Pamela Scott of Reidsville; eleven grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends also survive.
