Reidsville/ Toombs County
Velma Arline Wallace, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2016 at Meadows Park & Rehabilitation in Vidalia under the care of Affinis Hospice, surrounded by her family. She was born in Emanuel County on October 31, 1919 to the late Carrie & Jim Beckworth. She is the widow of the late Alma J. Powell of Toombs County. Ms. Wallace was a long time resident of Toombs County and lived in Fulton County for a number of years before moving to Reidsville to be closer to her beloved family. She was a loving mother and grandmother; aspects exemplified by her Methodist faith. She enjoyed taking care of her home, spending time with family & loved ones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Greenway, grandson, Larry Powell, Jr., two sisters and two brothers.
Leaving behind to carry on her memory and mourn her passing is her two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald & Geri Powell of Lyons and Larry & Arlene Powell of Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou & Charles Spikes of Reidsville; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 31, 2016 from the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Andrew Nelms officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Odum Cemetery in Laurens County.
Pallbearers will be Elbert Powell, Ike Powell, Bryan Powell, Glynn Powell, Greg Spikes, Justin Jarriel and Dalton Rushing.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.
