Aubrey Durrence

Aubrey S. Durrence, age 71 passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville all of his life.  He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after thirty four years of service.  Aubrey was an avid gardener, that loved spending time with his grandchildren and fishing.  He was a member of Pineview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for many years.  He was very instrumental in the remodeling of the Church in 1989.  Aubrey is preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Oleta Durrence; brother, Dale Durrence and a sister, Sandra Todd.

He is survived by his wife of 48 yrs., Ann Rogers Durrence of Reidsville; son, Barry S. Durrence of Reidsville; daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Jimmy Best of Vidalia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Lydia Durrence of Vidalia, Joe and Lillian Durrence of Reidsville, and David and Lee Ann Durrence of Savannah; two grandsons, Jeremy and Derek Best of Vidalia; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday from the Reidsville Chapel.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from the Pineview Baptist Church with the Reverends Gregg Usry and Jessie Browning officiating.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  Mr. Durrence will lie in state beginning at 12:00pm from the Church.
