Reidsville,
Mr. Aubrey Murray, age 75, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections serving twenty five years as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison. He loved to write songs, sing, and play his guitar. He was a member of Calvary Way Church in Lyons. He is preceded in death by his parents, David Fleming and May Belle Crews Murray; siblings, JF Wilds, Carl Murray, Jimmy Murray, Johnnie Bell Rogers, Marie Lindsay and Lou Nell Powell.
He is survived by his wife of 54 yrs, Maggie Murray of Reidsville; son and daughter-in-law, Derick Murray and Alisa King of Reidsville; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Howell and Michael Van Laeken of Ivor, VA; brother and sisters-in-law, Julian and Brenda Murray of Reidsville, and Mary Murray of Lyons; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Carol Smith and Linda and Wilburn Dooley all of Reidsville; three grandchildren, Seth (Stephanie) Howell, Zachary Howell, and Kendall Murray; two great grandchildren, Aden Hallowell and Andrew Howell; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin at 6:00pm Thursday from the Reidsville Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, September 6, 2013 from the Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with the Reverend Elemer Caraway officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randall Murray, Kerry Murray, Donavan Murray, JB Merritt, Shannon Cranford, and Earl Browning.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, Reidsville Chapel is serving the Murray family.
