Barbara Chloe Fox Baltzell, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at her daughter's home in Reidsville, GA. She was born in Blairsville on October 21, 1943, to Ethel and Melvin Fox and had lived in Hiawassee for many years until recently moving to Reidsville.
As a devoted homemaker, Barbara found joy in opening her home to everyone who needed a place to stay. Her door was always ajar, welcoming friends and family with warmth and kindness that made them feel instantly at home. Those who visited her could always expect to be greeted not just with smiles, but with the delightful aromas of her famous baked goods—especially during the holidays. Barbara delighted in sharing her culinary creations, ensuring that no one left her house empty-handed.
Beyond her considerable talents in the kitchen, Barbara enjoyed a vibrant array of hobbies and interests. She could often be found tending to her beloved flowers in the garden, each petal reflecting the nurturing spirit she embraced in all aspects of her life. Her evenings were often spent curled up with her Bible or with a crochet project in hand, both of which brought her peace and fulfillment. An enthusiastic bowler, she embraced friendly competition with open arms, and her love for Gospel music resonated through her home, filling it with notes of joy and spirituality.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 35 years, Jack Baltzell; her daughters, infant Mary Ellen Baltzell and Helen Mauney; and her brothers, Monk, Connie, Clay, Jeff and Joe.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Amy and Van McCall; her brother and sister in law, Milo and Kathryn Fox; sisters and brothers in law, Patricia and Jerry Walls and Sandy and George Fell; grandchildren, Amber (Johnny) McCoy, Cody (Tiffany) Tomlinson, Tinsley McCall, and Ally McCall; great grandchildren, Whyatt Madden, Maddox Baltzell, Wrenlee McCoy, Wylie Tomlinson, Tyler (Tori) McCoy and Caleb (Madi) McCoy; great great grandson, Easton McCoy; several nieces and nephews
