"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Ms. Barbara Ann Braggs, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Barbara entered this world on August 19, 1959, in Claxton, Georgia, born to the late Curtis Wright, Sr. and Ernestine Cain Wright.

In her early years, Barbara moved with her family to Jersey City, New Jersey, where she would attend school, including Henry Schneider High School. Later, the family returned to Georgia, settling in Glennville, where she proudly graduated from Glennville High School.

On July 20, 1984, Barbara united in holy matrimony with her late husband, Willie Braggs, and together they built a loving home filled with faith, family, and strength. A hard-working and determined woman, Barbara held positions at Ithaca Manufacturing, Glennville Hatchery, and later shared her compassionate spirit as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for others in various healthcare settings throughout the area.

Barbara was known for her warm smile, her steady presence, and the love she poured into her children and grandchildren. She was a true matriarch, raising not only her own but stepping in to help nurture many others along the way.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Willie Braggs; her parents, Curtis and Ernestine Wright; and her dear sister, Linda Wright.

Her memory will be cherished and carried on by her loving daughters: Jaffayra (Terry Robinson, Jr.) Braggs Moody and Kemera Braggs; six precious grandchildren: Ja’mauria Braggs, Ja’maurion Braggs, Arieonna Braggs Moody, Aaron Moody Jr., Kayden Sharpe, and Jaylyn Braggs; one sister, Jacqueline Wright; five brothers: Johnny, Clearance, Curtis, David, and Michael Wright; two uncles: Clifford Cain and George Cain; two aunts: Paulette Curvin and Pauline Whetstine; and three special nieces whom she raised as her own: Shonda (Lumumba) Hawkins, Sheara (Melvin Harris) Howard, and Tempestt Wright; sisters and brothers in law, Shirley Johnson, Rutina Gibson, Carlene Bacon, Terry Gibson, and Willie “Baybay” Gibson.

She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her kindness and strength. Barbara’s presence in their lives was a blessing, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of Glennville Funeral Home.

A Homegoing Celebration honoring her life will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, also in the chapel of Glennville Funeral Home, with Pastor Bobby Adkins officiating. Services will conclude in the chapel, with a private interment to follow for the family.

Pallbearers will be Ja’maurion Braggs, Clearance Wright, Jarvis Lovett, Dezmond Mikell, and Reginald Sharpe.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” – Matthew 25:21
