Barbara Meade

Mrs. Barbara Mary (Goodridge) Meade, 72, of Hortense, Georgia, formerly of Varney, West Virginia, passed away on April 8th 2015 at her daughter’s residence.

Barbara was born on January 17, 1943 in Ilfracombe, Devonshire, England. She was a retired licensed practical nurse. Barbara was a member of the Williamson Church of God in Williamson, WV, where she was known and loved for her rendition of her favourite hymn How Great Thou Art.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Mary Ellen Goodridge; her husband, David Meade; and her sister, Lesley Cooper. Those left to cherish her memory include: her brother, Frank (Carol) Goodridge of Whitchurch, Hampshire, England; her daughters Deborah (Glen) Hall of Belfry, Ky, Lisa (Anthony) Barber of Hortense, Ga and Carolyn (Johnny) Meade-Wilson of Hortense, Ga.; grandchildren Mike (Leanne) Barber, Levi (Marinna) Barber, Sarah McCoy, Andrew McCoy and Joshua Wilson; her precious great-granddaughters Kacie Anne Barber and Amanda LeighAnne Barber; and many nieces and nephews and loved ones.

The family would like to take this time to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the dedicated nurses, caregivers and physicians of Heartland Hospice, Jesup, Ga office, importantly Jill Brand R.N., Wendy Malone R.N., Melissa Koch CNA, and Chrissy Maddox CNA for their support and loving care provided not only to Barbara, but to the entire family during her extended illness and passing.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Alzheimer’s Association or Heartland Hospice, Jesup office in Barbara’s memory.
