Barbara Ellen (Daughtry) Schaaf

SAVANNAH

Barbara Daughtry Schaaf, 78, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Memorial Hospital, Savannah, GA. Barbara was born in Rocky Ford, GA on January 11, 1937 to Jim B. & Rosa Lea Daughtry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Hilda Daughtry McCord and her son, Jimmy Schaaf.

She is survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law, Laney & Beverly Daughtry of Pooler, Georgia. Her surviving children are Margie (Tom) Carfrey of Savannah, Audrey (Loren) Lewis of Claxton, Barry Schaaf of Savannah and Janet Schaaf of Tybee Island. Her 12 grandchildren are Barrett Schaaf, Amber Peacock, Natalie Missroon, Ashley Harden, Morgan Lewis-Ortiz, Loren Lewis, Jr., Dustin Schaaf, Alyssa Beckdol, Allison Schaaf, Harley Schaaf, Kiley Schaaf and Katelyn Schaaf. Little Gram also has 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her little puppy, Driscoll.

Barbara was a hostess for the Savannah Yacht Club for many, many years. She was of the Catholic faith and put in many volunteer hours at Nativity School while her children attended there. She was very active in her community serving on the March of Dimes’ Mothers’ March and her local Garden Club.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church on Victory Drive, Thunderbolt, GA. The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior to the memorial service. Please join us for a celebration of her life at the Tybee Guard House after the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your charity of choice. A private burial of the ashes to be held at a later date.
