Barbara Kay Marston Stovall, 80, of Athens passed away on February 9, 2018 after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Barbara was born on February 7, 1938, in Atlanta, GA to Ruth and George Marston. She attended Hoke Smith High School and later earned both her Bachelor of Education and Master of Education at the University of Georgia. She moved to Athens in 1968 where she taught for 30 years in Clarke, Greene, Oconee, Madison, and Franklin County, specializing in speech therapy and gifted education. She volunteered for numerous organizations including the Town & Gown Theater, the Classic Center, and groups that helped families in need. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and Unity Athens. She relocated to Savannah in 2009 to be closer to family living there and continued her volunteer work helping with the local Parkinson's group.
She is survived by her children, Eric Stovall and Chris Stovall; her sisters, Audrey McDonald and Kathryn Marston; three grandchildren, Giuliana, Anthony and Arden.
A memorial service will be held on March 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, on Timothy Rd, in Athens, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to her local Parkinson's Group atwww.getexcitedandmove.com/donate/.
