Reidsville,
Mrs. Beatrice Grosser Hightower, age 80, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Community Hospice Inpatient Center in Vidalia. She was born March 23, 1939 in Yugoslavia to Nikolaus and Gisela Hettesheimer Grosser. She had lived most of her adult life in Tatttnall County. Mrs. Bea was a bookkeeper retiring from the Tattnall Bank after 18 years of dedicated service and also from Triangle J Trucking after 20 years of service. There is no doubt that she was a dedicated employee, but her true passion was serving others. She truly had a servant’s heart. For many years she served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lyons. Additionally, she had many talents including playing an accordion, but she was most noted for baking, especially cinnamon rolls. It has been said that “everyone in the county had Ms. Bea’s cinnamon rolls”! Later in life, she relished her new role as a grandmother and later great grandmother. An example of a Godly woman living a life worthy of honor, respect, and love; she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lyons and is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Nikolaus Grosser and a great grandson, Caleb Levi Harris.
She is survived by her children, Jim Roe Hightower of New Mexico, Loretta Jane (William) Stanley of Reidsville, Rev. Larry (Teresa) Hightower of Lyons, and Marika (Mark) Crews of Reidsville; siblings, Kurt Grosser of Colorado, Valeria Myers and Marika Gustas both of Canada; grandchildren, Erika Stanley, Michael (Katie) Hightower, Amber (BJ) Wilkinson, Amelia (John Coker) Hightower, Dently (Cari) Crews, Catherine (Aaron) Schulke, Dalton (Katelyn) Crews, Stephanie Hightower and Siobhan Hightower; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
There will be an opportunity on Thursday for friends to stop by the funeral home from the hours of 5:00pm to 7:00pm to view and pay your respects to Mrs. Hightower. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday at 10:00am at the Reidsville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Community Hospice Foundation, 904 Mt. Vernon Road, Vidalia, GA 30474.
