Betty Ruth (Lewis) Adams

October 1, 1935 — August 6, 2022

Reidsville

Reidsville,

Mrs. Betty Ruth Adams, age 86, passed away Saturday August 6, 2022, at her residence under the loving care of her family and AGAPE Hospice.  She was born October 1, 1935, in Hazlehurst to Grady Donald and Retha Mincey Lewis and had lived in Bartow, Florida for many years moving to Reidsville 50 years ago.  She and her husband owned and operated Adams Tractor Company and Adams Crawler Services.  As a small business owner, it seems there are never enough hours in the day.  However, Betty always made time to go the “extra” mile for her community.  She served on the Reidsville City Council as well as a member of the Industrial Development Authority.  Additionally, she was a long-time member of the Red Hat Foxy Ladies and the Greater Tattnall Chamber of Commerce.  In the school system she served on the “Schools to Careers” executive committee helping to bridge the pathway for countless students to succeed professionally.  Long trusted for her professionalism and attention to detail, she was the Treasurer for Woodmen of the World for many years.  Perhaps the highlight of her life of civic service was in 1996 when she served on the Olympic Torch Committee for Tattnall County.  No matter how busy Betty was professionally or civically, she always made time to serve the Lord.  She was a faithful member of Reidsville Baptist Church and set the example of a Godly influenced life for her family.  A dedicated mother and wife, a dutiful civic steward, and a devoted follower of Christ; Betty will be missed by all who knew her.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, David Russell, Glen, Steve, Allen, and Grady Donald Lewis.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Bob Leon Adams of Reidsville; sons and daughters in law, Paul and Chris Adams of Reidsville and John and Deborah Adams of Warrenton; siblings, Joanne (Johnny) Sanchez and LaVerne Marsh all of Bartow, FL and Bobby (Nancy) Lewis of Zephyrihills, FL; grandchildren, Kandyce Reynolds of Reidsville, Laura Townley and Rachel Townley both of New York and Katherine Peebles of Clark Hill; great grandchildren, Shelby Clifton, Skylar Reynolds, Hunter Peebles and Chance Peebles; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 9, 2022, beginning at 6:00pm at the Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from the Reidsville Baptist with Dr. Charles Jonas and Brother Paul Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Anderson, Michael Clifton, Kenny Murphy, Tom Colvin, Van Kennedy, and Johnny Sanchez.

Memorials may be given to New Beginnings in Christ, 113 Augusta Road, Garfield, GA 30425 and Canaan Land Ministries, 449 County Road 165, Autaugaville, AL 36003.
