Obituary
Betty Jean Collins, age 78 passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Golden Isles Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville for many years, moving to Pine Harbor in 1970. She was a 1950 graduate of Reidsville High School and attended Draughons Junior College where she obtained her license in Dental Assisting in 1963. She began her Civil Service career in 1966 as a Training Support Officer at Ft. Stewart and retiring in 2004. Betty was very active and enjoyed playing golf, bridge, snow skiing, bicycling, fishing, painting and loved to travel. She is a member of First Christian Church in Glennville and had been attending Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Shellman Bluff. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene W. Collins and her son, Alvin Ivy Collins.
She is survived by her Daughter-in-law, Libby Collins of Reidsville; three granddaughters, Rhonda and Kenny Zimmerman of Tallahassee, Florida, Lainey and Michael Johnston of Reidsville, Britton Collins of Reidsville; two great-grandchildren, Miles and Riley Zimmerman of Tallahassee, Florida; brother-in-law, Reggie and Modena Collins of Statesboro; aunt, Beatrice Roundtree of Orlando, Florida; also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Viaitation and Funeral Services
Visitation will begin 1:00pm Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from the Glennville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm, with the Reverends Melissa Traver, Raymond Lowe and Mr. Jack Snellgrove officiating . Interment will be in the Glennville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Graham Lewis, Harry Sikes, Brian Hunter, Terry Collins, Kyle Durrence, Ritchie Ryals, Gary Ryals, Larry Durrence.

Memorials may be made to: Golden Isles Hospice, First Christian Church, Glennville or to Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Shellman Bluff.
