Bobby Winston Jarriel passed away on August 6, 2013, after a short illness. He was a native of Tattnall County being born to Winston and Julia P. Jarriel of Collins in 1931. Bobby graduated from Glen Academy in Brunswick, Georgia in 1946. After high school he accepted a college football scholarship at South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia. Upon his graduation he continued his education and football collegiate career at the University of Tulsa Oklahoma. The Korean Confict drove Bobby off the gridiron when he enlisted in the U.S Air Force for four years. After returning from his military service he was hired by IBM. He retired from IBM after 31 years as a computer service engineer. He and his family lived in Savannah for 23 years prior to returning to Collins where he lived the remainder of his life. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jack Jarriel, and his granddaughter Katie Belle Jarriel.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy S. Jarriel, son and daughter-in-law, Phillip W. and Paula Jarriel; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer J. and Joey Sands; grandchildren; Hensley Jarriel, Julia Sands, Kylie Jarriel, Trey Sands, and Emily Sands, as well as numerous other relatives.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm on Friday August 9, 2013 from the Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm with the Rev. David Blalock, Rev. Steve Kimbrell and Mr. Ricky Jordan officiating.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice or The Shepherd Center, 2020 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30309
