Brunswick

Brunswick GA,

Bruce W. Whitmore, age 74, passed away at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick on Sunday, November 18, 2018 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Although he never smoked a day in his life; he was fated to face this dreadful disease.  The Hollywood CA native met the love of his life, and wife of 48 years, Patt Whitmore while in California.  In 1972 they heeded the calling of their Faith and moved to Illinois where they worked at the historic Baha’i House of Worship. Entrepreneurial callings brought him to Glynn county in 1986 where he and a business partner  started a business.  During his years in Illinois he researched and published a book “The Dawning Place” about the Baha’i House of Worship.  His book brings to life in rich and vivid detail, not only the story of how the Temple came to be built, but the story of the birth of a religious community and the many trials and victories it would experience in its establishment.  Bruce released a revised version just prior to his illness progression with an updated history of the last 50 years of its existence.  Professionally, he was a computer instructior at the College of Coastal Georgia retiring in 2012.  A faithful heart and loving family man, Bruce will be sorely missed.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to carry the memories of a life well lived is his wife, Patt Whitmore of Brunswick; 2 children, Heather (Todd) Day of Charleston SC and Sean (Shae) Whitmore of Brunswick; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many friends met along life’s journey.
