Byron Crosby, age 78, passed away on March 17, 2017 at Hospice Savannah. The Appling County native was reared in Baxley. As an ardent patriot, he joined the U.S. Army as soon as he was able to; ultimately serving 26 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. During his years of service to his country, he served 2 tours in Vietnam and 3 tours in Europe. He made his home in Glennville in 1985 and later retired from the Military in 1987. Again, he went back into public service; serving Tattnall County as a Code Enforcement Officer. Among work and dedication to the greater good of his community and country; he was dedicated to serving the Lord. Byron was a member of First Baptist Church in Glennville and served in the Friendship Sunday School Class. Family was always important to him and in his later years, his favorite hobbies involved his grandchildren. Whether it was teaching them the art of fishing or taking in a ballgame or attending a cheer or gymnastic competition, he wanted them to know that he loved them and that he was proud of all of their activities.
