Carole Grace Smith Fay - REIDSVILLE - Carole Grace Smith Fay, 78, of Reidsville, Ga. died Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Savannah. Mrs. Fay was born in Reidsville, Georgia on April 14, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Swinton Smith, and late Maxie Adkins Smith, both also of Reidsville.

After graduating from Reidsville High School in 1961, Mrs. Fay attended University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. She then moved to Savannah, Georgia where she raised her children for 16 years, then to Tampa, Florida for 3 years, then returned to Reidsville, Georgia in 1981 where she resided for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Fay retired in 2005 from the Georgia Department of Public Safety and Driver’s Services after 24 years of service where she served as Chief License Examiner.

Mrs. Fay is survived by her daughter, Shari Cobb and son-in-law Larry Cobb of Dahlonega, Ga.; son, Chuck Sullenger and daughter-in-law Debbie Sullenger, of Statesboro, Ga.; daughter, Stacy Reese and son-in-law Walter Reese of Lyons, Ga.; son Todd Bright and daughter-in-law Jessie Bright of Gray, Ga. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren: Kristofer and Greg King of Atlanta, Ga.; Trent Reese and Carmen Johnson of Statesboro, Ga.; Taylor and Brian McRee of Statesboro, Ga.; Thomas Sullenger of Statesboro, Ga.; Tanner Reese and Kayleigh Grimes of Statesboro, Ga.; Kara Cobb of Dahlonega, Ga.; Tyler Reese of Lyons, Ga.; Ellie Bright, Mason Bright, Libbie Bright, and Owen Bright of Gray, Ga. Mrs. Fay is also survived by one great-grandson, Liam McRee of Statesboro, Ga.

Mrs. Fay is also survived by her brother Billy Smith and sister-in-law Maxine Smith of St. Simons Island, Ga.; and her brother Bobby Smith and sister-in-law Nancy Smith of Cobbtown, Ga.

Mrs. Fay is also survived by a special aunt, Ruth Anderson of Claxton, Ga., as well as several nieces and nephews, and many special “kids” she often referred to as “her own”.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 18, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Low Country Cremation and Burial in Reidsville, Ga. A Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be determined at a later date.
