Mrs. Carolyn Boyett Mack, age 89, of Collins, GA, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at her home under the care of Community Hospice, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Mack was born August 15, 1935, in Collins to the late Otis Boyett and Evelyn Cowart Boyett. She was the valedictorian of Collins High School's graduating class of 1953. After graduation, she was a secretary at Interstate Insurance Company in Savannah and Swainsboro, Georgia. She attended Draughon’s Business College in Savannah. On Christmas day in 1955, after the Sunday morning church service, she wed her husband of 55 years, Franklin Mack. They welcomed three children: Keith, Rhonda, and Eric. Also in 1955, she transitioned to a Civil Service role as a Finance and Accounting Officer at Ft. Stewart, where she remained until September 1963. Following a stint to focus on her family, she returned to the workforce in October 1966 as a substitute Distribution and Window Clerk at the Reidsville Post Office. In 1969, she took on a part-time position as a bookkeeper for Toombs County Stockyard. In March 1971, she was given the opportunity to work in her hometown, Collins, GA, as the postmaster at the Post Office. After retirement, she took on her most important role: full-time grandmother. She lived to serve her family and God, her love and commitment to them unwavering. She was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church Collins who faithfully served in various roles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Delano Mack, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Davis Mack.
Mrs. Mack is survived by her children, Keith (Joy) Mack, Rhonda (Ray) James and Eric Mack; her brother, Jack Boyett, as well as her eight grandchildren, Amber (Nathan) Koske, Garrett (Kelley) Mack, Jacob (Sidney) Mack, Natalie Mack, Rachel (lance) Strickland, Trey (Elizabeth) James, Erica (Taylor) Morris and Dewayne Moser; ten great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews
The funeral service to honor Mrs. Mack's life will be held at First Baptist Church Collins at 11:00am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, We are grateful to Reverend David Lamm and Reverend Steve Kimbrell, who will officiate the service and guide us through this moment of remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Trey James, Jacob Mack, Dewayne Moser, Lance Strickland, Taylor Morris, and Nathan Koske are the active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult II Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church Collins.
