Carolyn (Calhoun) Neely

Ms. Carolyn Neely, age 75, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation after a short illness.  The Bulloch County native enjoyed the outdoors from an early age.  In fact, she met her future husband while she was out chasing butterflies as a youth.  Family recalls that he fell in love from the first moment he saw her and was determined to, one day, make her his wife.  Carolyn and Ronald did in fact wed and made a wonderful life together; over 46 years until his death.  Their strong bond created a strong family.  Carolyn was afforded the opportunity to be a homemaker for her entire life.  Being a homemaker was not an idle job for her.  She loved to sew and as her 4 children grew up, they almost never had “bought” clothes.  She would spend hours creating unique fashions for the children.  One of her early creations was, as many in that day made, flour sack bloomers.  As the kids grew up, she found new hobbies to fill her time.  She was an avid reader and loved to work on any type of puzzle book.  Carolyn is preceded in death her husband of 46 years, Ronald Neely; a son, Johnny Neely; three brothers and 2 sisters.

Left to cherish their years together are her son, Roy Don Neely of Fitzgerald; 2 daughters, Brenda (Bland) Wagers of Reidsville and Pam Cox of Woodbine; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church, 3233 Oak Hill Church Road Millen GA.

Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation on August 16, 2018 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church, 3233 Oak Hill Church Road Millen GA with the Rev. Jamie Archer officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
