Charles "Charlie" Gordon Edwards

Charles "Charlie" Gordon Edwards, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Glenvue Health and Rehab in Glennville. He was born on January 7, 1951, in Hinesville to William Barney and Doris Knight Edwards and had lived in Glennville for most of his life.  He was the ninth of twelve children.

Charlie dedicated over 40 years of service with the Tattnall County Board of Commissioners, primarily with the Road Department. His commitment to his work was unwavering, reflecting his strong work ethic and love for his community. After retiring, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, often found watching television and listening to gospel music, which brought him great joy and comfort.

He is a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, William Barney Edwards, Jr., Sandra Faye Edwards, Bobby Gene Edwards, Rufus "Dub" Lester Edwards, and Susan "Susie" Groover.

He is survived by his siblings, Charlotte (Richard) Webb of Hinesville, Gail Dasher, Carolyn Edwards, Wanda Swindell, Patsy (Danny) Holiday, Debra (Mike) Moody all of Glennville; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:30am until 11:30am on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Glennville Funeral Home.  Graveside funeral services will follow at noon at Sands Field Cemetery in Daisy with Reverend Kenny Edwards officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ty Swindell, Scott Rogers, Gene Edwards, Adam Moody, Stacy Dasher, Junior Groover and Josh Dasher.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
