Charles Raymond Hendrix Jr., 74, passed away August 10, 2023 at Effingham Care Center in Springfield, Georgia. He was born and raised on Wilmington Island. Charles never met a stranger and loved everyone. He was a cosmetics chemist his entire career graduating from Armstrong with his Masters in Chemistry. He spent several years in Key West, working the day away, and drinking the night away. Charles was always sharp as a tack and loved telling family stories from the good old days. He was a diehard Dawgs fan, pirate, and a mad chemist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Mattox Hendrix and Charles Raymond Hendrix Sr., and his brother, Stephen P. Hendrix Sr.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Duncan (Shawn) of Springfield, GA; He was known as Pumpkin to his grandchildren, Jessica Penven (Andy), Amber Duncan (Dustin), Kimberly Edwards (Brandon), and Hunter Duncan; great-granddaughters, Scarlett Penven and Blakely Edwards. Also surviving are his brother Thomas L. Hendrix (Margie); nephews Stephen Jr. (Laura), Kenner (Aimee), and Donald Hendrix.
The family will be honoring him in a private celebration of life.
