Charles David Waterbury

Charles David Waterbury, age 81 passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at home in Glennville, Georgia with friends, loved ones and family by his side. David was born in Hiawatha, Kansas, the son of Ivan and Vera Waterbury. David's family moved to Michigan where he spent most of his life. Golf was the love of his life from an early age. He began as a caddie at the Lakeland Golf and Country Club where he later became head greens keeper and an excellent golfer. In 1965, he was hired by the City of Flint to manage one of the golf courses and later was made Park and Recreation Director over all the city courses until his retirement after 25 years at that job. He was then asked to manage the total operations of Willowbrook Golf and Country Club in Byron, Michigan where he worked until he and his wife, Eileen decided it was time to truly retire and move to Florida. They were so happy in Florida until Eileen's death in 2010. David then decided to try life in Georgia, where he made lots of friends and was very happy. David attended Calvary Baptist Church in Glennville. David was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, 2 brothers and a great-grandson.

Surviving are Linda (Jim) Pavlica, Laurie (Marty) Stone, John (Lisa) Waterbury, Vicki (Jim) Yankee, Jim Vocek; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; his twin sister, Charlotte Donna (John) Koss; dear friend and soul mate Lillian Hobbs, nieces and nephews.
