Glennville,
Mr. Charlton Henry “Bud” Blocker, Jr. age 74, passed away Thursday, October
15, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his family and under the care of Living Care Hospice. The Glennville native had lived in Hollywood, Florida for many years moving back to Glennville in 1986. He retired from Dade County School Board after thirty four years of service. He was a Master Mason, a 32 degree Mason, former Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent at Hollywood Freewill Baptist Church. He was currently a member of Pigot Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Bud was known as a workaholic that loved to farm on the home place. He also enjoyed CB radios and watching Westerns. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlton Henry Blocker and Pearl DeLoach Walker; daughter, Beverly Ann Blocker; granddaughter, Melanie Nichole Joseph; siblings, James Carlton “Doc” Blocker, Josaphine Ray, Rose Burkhalter, Retha Holland, Arthur, Roland, Doland, Roy Walker, and Opal DeLoach.
He is survived by his children, Pam (Wayland) Winn of Edgefield, SC and
Charlton “Butch” Blocker of the Gooseneck Community; granddaughter, Vanessa
Michel Padgett of Edgefield, SC; great-grandson, Eastin Joseph Blocker; siblings, Pauline Huber, Molly Logan both of Glennville, Mary Moody of Ludowici, Rita Walker of Glennville, Myrtle (Buster) Williams of Metter, Douglas “Man” Walker of Glennville, Nolan Walker of Jesup, Lois (Matthew) Bryant of Eden, Mildred (Alan) Strickland of Pooler, and Freeman Walker of Jesup; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Saturday from the
funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, October 18,
2015 from the chapel of Low Country Cremation Services and Burial with the
Reverends Edward Brannen and Bryan Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pigot Branch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery where Masonic Rites will be rendered.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Blocker, Duck DeLoach, Bobby Parker, Albert Huber, Melvin Ray,
Lamar Cook, John North. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Moody, Carl Lippie.
Memorials may be given to Pigot Branch Missionary Baptist Church or Living
Care Hospice.
