Cory Michelle (Stanfield) Shafer

Cory Stanfield Shafer, age 38, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after a courageous battle with Covid.  Cory was born in Reidsville on September 24, 1982 and had lived in Tattnall County all of her life.  She was a 2000 graduate of Tattnall County High School.  Following high school, she would go on to work as a parapro at Glennville Elementary School.  Eventually she would embark on her career path with the Georgia Department of Corrections and would serve the state as a Financial Operations Generalist.  Everyone that knew Cory, however, knew that she lived her life for her kids.  In all aspects of her life, she always put them first.  Her Christian faith and love for God created a peaceful and loving home for them.  A devoted mother, called home too soon; Cory will be missed by all who knew her.  She is preceded in death by her daddy, Ronald Stanfield.

She is survived by her children, Austin Lane Dasher and Ansleigh Katherine Shafer both of Reidsville; mother and step daddy, Rhonda and Dean Pearson of Reidsville; grandparents, Raneldo and George Ann Boyd of Reidsvile; half-sister, Casey Whitaker of Indiana; step
siblings, James Ashly Pearson and Amber Nichole O’Neal both of Glennville; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Monday, August 16, 2021 at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Rev. Jeffery Barnard officiating.  Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Blake Varnadore, David Wilson, Chris Stanfield, Travis Rapp, Bubba King, and Johnathan Stanfield.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Brent Stricklan, Michael Fields, Curtis Fields, and employees of the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the family of Cory Stanfield Shafer.
