Reidsville,
Mrs. Cynthia Waters Boyett, age 68, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Reidsville on July 25, 1950 to Marcus and Edith Durrence Waters and lived in Reidsville most of her life. Although she classified herself as a “Domestic Engineer”, she was so much more. Outside of her domestic duties, she served as a substitute teacher for the Tattnall County Board of Education and was also the former manager of Mikey’s Restaurant in Mt. Vernon. These vocations led her to meet and get to know so many people on a more personal level. She fully understood that responsibilities don’t end with work and home. To that end, she was very involved in civic service. Her longest tenure of service was as the head of Family Readiness for Georgia National Guard Company C 878 Engineer Battalion based in Lyons for over 24 years. In 2004, the GA National Guard recognized her as volunteer of the year for her selfless service. Additionally, she was an active member of Reidsville United Methodist Church, VFW Post 7764 Ladies Auxiliary, and Clearwater Supper Club. Cynthia never gave of her time for awards or recognition by others though. The best evidence of that was the countless trips she would make to take cancer patients to their treatments. Cynthia was a person that was easy to love, hard to forget, and will be missed by countless people. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Rebecca Boyett, and siblings, Joann Bowser and Horace Waters.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Earl Boyett of Reidsville; grandchildren, Jenny Brooke (Will) Newman of Claxton, Katelynn and Emily Altman of Statesboro; siblings, Terry Waters of Glennville, Jack (Linda) Waters of Colonels Island, Lisa Oliver of Glennville, and Teresa (David) Perkins of Claxton; great grandson, John William Newman of Claxton; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Monday at the funeral home, Funeral services will be conducted 1:30pm Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with the Reverends Marc Foster and Marshall Singletary officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charley Waters, Chad Waters, Alec Waters, Jamie Boyett, Scott Terrell, and Mathew Boyett.
