David Walter Brogdon, age 66 passed away on October 4, 2016 after a long illness while under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. David was born February 2, 1950 in Savannah, GA. He was a 1968 graduate of Savannah High School. David went on to graduate from Armstrong State College in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. After graduation, David accepted a position as a teacher of history and economics with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. He spent thirty years teaching at Windsor Forest High School. In 1995, David was named Teacher of the Year by Junior Achievement of Savannah. He was a 1998-1999 Georgia Economics Teacher of the Year finalist and the 1998 Teacher of the Year at Windsor Forest High School. David was owner of the Old Timey Antique Shop at Denmark Station near Statesboro. David was a member of Mill Branch Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, buying and selling antiques, and he was a known prolific story teller. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.F. and Hazel Brogdon of Nevils, GA.
Mr. Brogdon is survived by his loving wife, Debra Brogdon of Statesboro; aunt, Crystal Hotchkiss of Statesboro; granddaughter, Brittany Black; great-granddaughter, Ansleigh Edwards.
The family would like to thank the Gardens at Gentilly, Ogeechee Area Hospice and Terry Barker for their compassionate, loving care.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
