David A. Denton, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at his home under the care of his loving family and Georgia Hospice Care. He was born on October 26, 1943, in Detroit Michigan to Lambert Causby and Glothine Lula Hanke Denton and had lived in Liberty County most of his life.

A proud United States Army Veteran, David's commitment to his country laid the foundation for a robust career. He retired as a heavy equipment operator after 25 years of service with the Civil Service at Fort Stewart. He served his community as an auxiliary police officer with the Hinesville Police Department for 17 years. His dedication to public service was evident in both his professional and personal life.

In his later years, David and his wife embraced a new adventure, taking to the open road as they embarked on over-the-road long hauls together. This allowed them to explore the diverse landscapes of the country.

David's personality was one that brought smiles to many. A renowned jokester, he never failed to light up a room with laughter.  His playful spirit created joyous moments that will be fondly remembered.

He was a devoted grandfather who cherished spending time with his grandchildren, particularly enjoying rides on the golf cart and engaging in simple yet meaningful pastimes like splitting wood. He is a member of A New Beginning Church in Ludowici and is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Lynn Denton; his sisters, Jane Greene, Faith Denton and Lovella Vallus.

He is survived by his children, Cindy (David) Woodward of Ludowici, Caron Denton (Kevin Mitchell) of Hinesville, Cherl (David) Futch of Glennville and Marc (Kim) Denton of Hinesville; siblings, Sharon Arendt of Florida, Dan (Patti) Denton, and Paul (Roberta) Denton all of Michigan; brothers in law, David Vallus and Robert Arendt; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 14, 2025 beginning at 11:00am with the funeral services to follow at Noon from the Glennville Funeral Home.  Interment with Military Honors will be rendered at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
