David Middleton Smith

David M. Smith, age 63, passed away Saturday December 26, 2015 at home after an extended illness. The Boston MA native grew up in a military household and lived all over the world. After high school he attended Florida State University where he obtained a master’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Upon completing his degree, he began work with troubled youth as a counselor for the State of Florida. In 1995 David retired, at that time he and his family moved to Reidsville GA. Among his many hobbies; those he enjoyed the most were building model airplanes, wood working, and deep sea fishing. In 2011 he lost his beloved wife, Jackie Smith. Also preceding David in death are a granddaughter Emily Dukes and his parents, Dr. E.P. and Sarah Smith.

Left to mourn his memory are his daughters, Leigh (Shelby Hallman) Smith of Reidsville GA, Tracye (Jody) Simmons of Georgetown TX, Sara (Billy Dukes) Smith of Lyons GA; brother E.P. (Mary) Smith III of Iowa; sister, Patricia Smith of Seminole FL; grandchildren, Shawn Smith, David Hallman, Madeline Hallman, Devin Smith, and Amber Simmons; 5 nieces and nephews and a number of other friends and family.

At David’s request, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
