Eastman,

David Elwood Waite, age 77, passed away peacefully from this life the morning of November 21, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Born February 16, 1943 to the late Elwood Harry and Mary Margaret Waite of Chester, Pennsylvania. He grew up and attended schools in the Aston/Beechwood Park area in Pennsylvania before enlisting in the US Army at the age of 17, where he served from 1960 to 1964.

He worked as a truck driver, mechanic and carpenter for most of his career. In his free time, his passions included playing music, researching family history, and doting after his loving wife.

A natural entertainer and musician, “Dave”, as friends and family called him, played the piano, organ and guitar by ear. He could always be heard entertaining guests at family functions, or later in retirement at local venues and retirement communities.

His organizational affiliations include membership of the Freemason Masonic Ivanhoe Lodge #449, Philadelphia (32nd Degree Scottish Rite), and numerous groups that champion Veteran causes.

David is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margaret Elaine Herbert, and his brother Robert John Waite.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Ann Waite, his two children, David Elwood Jr. and Stephen Patrick, daughter in law; Bernadette Lawson, mother of grandchildren (Danielle, John David); Jill Grezaffi, four grandchildren; Danielle Megan, Jonathan David, Alexander Patrick, and Nicholas Lawson, two great grandchildren; Eamon Alexander and Emil Lawson. Also left behind are his sister Carol Lynn, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and lifelong friends.

A private service will be held at a later date when Dave’s family and friends can gather safely.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that donations be sent to the family’s hospice provider: Hospice Care Options, 715 Legion Drive, Eastman, Georgia 31023
