David Aaron Glisson

June 7, 1938 — April 15, 2017

Reidsville

David Aaron Glisson, age 78, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home. The Collins native had lived in Reidsville for most of his life. He was a retired Command Sergeant Major serving 35 years in the US Army National Guard and then retiring with the Georgia Department of Corrections as an On the Job Training Coordinator after 34 years. Mr. Aaron was a member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Church Choir, the Administrative Board, a Lay speaker, Sunday school Superintendant, the Lillian Eason Sunday School Class where he served as the teacher and was head of maintenance. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed attending the weekly Wednesday morning men’s prayer group. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Frances Mosley Glisson; his first wife, Dianne Glisson; son, Reverend Dane Glisson; siblings, Ray Glisson and Byron Glisson.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Glisson of Reidsville; son, Derek (Sheila) Glisson of Phenix City, AL;step children, Tina (Chris) Edwards of Lyons; Tammy (Mark) Durrence of Reidsville, and Wally (Tammy) Rhoden of Glennville; sister, Olivia (Ronnie) Funderburke of Cobbtown; sisters in law, Marilyn Glisson of Pulaski and Belinda Glisson of Brunswick; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 6:00pm. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from the Reidsville United Methodist Church with the Reverends Marc Foster and Steve Grantham officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery with full military honors.

​Pallbearers will be Don Martin, Austin Martin, Bobby Kennedy, Clay Trim, Louie Smith, and Greg Hendrix.

​Honorary Pallbearers will be the Wednesday Morning Prayer Group.

Memorial donations may be made to the Reidsville United Methodist Church food pantry.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Glisson family.
