D.L. Durrence, Jr.

April 14, 1928 — February 11, 2016

Reidsville,

Mr. D.L. Durrence, Jr., age 87, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Tattnall Health Care Center in Reidsville.  The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville all of his life.  He was a US Army Veteran and had worked at Canoochee Electric before he became a fulltime farmer.  He specialized in cows, wheat and soybeans.  Mr. D.L. was known through many counties for his love of dance.  He was able to go dancing up to a year ago.  He was a member of the Reidsville Baptist Church and is  preceded in death by his parents, David Lester and Pearl Tootle Durrence, Sr., siblings, Segal, Swinton, and Bobby Durrence  and Edra Burns.

He is survived by his children, David L. (Jan) Durrence III and Michael L. Durrence all of Reidsville; siblings, Kenneth Durrence of Reidsville, Sue Hommel of Wilmington Island, and Rita Wasson of Vidalia; three grandchildren, several great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Friday from the funeral home.  Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday, February 13, 2016 from the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Chuch Jonas officiating.
