Don Holland, age 85, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows in Vidalia. He was born in Metter on June 2, 1939, to Johnny and Pauline Mullins Holland and was reared in Cobbtown.  Don had lived in Macon for many years moving to Collins in 2005.  He was a 1960 graduate of Collins High School.

Don had a fulfilling career with Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he dedicated over 35 years of service in various capacities, including conductor, brakeman, and trainman. His commitment to his work became a testament to his strong character and work ethic, establishing him as a reliable colleague and friend among those he worked with during his tenure.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Don was passionate about woodworking, a skill that allowed him to express his creativity and craftsmanship, leaving a legacy of beautiful creations for his loved ones.  Don was also deeply committed to his faith and community, being an active and dedicated member of Collins Full Gospel Church. His presence in the church was marked by his willingness to serve and support others, making a lasting impression on those who congregated with him.

 He is preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Carolyn Gwenette Holland and Janet Pauline Holland; his siblings, Jeanette Saucier, Eloise Turbie, Faye Harris, William Holland and Sarah Holland

Don is survived by his wife, Barbara Bell of Collins; his children, Ann Garland of VA, Stephanie Vale Bell of Richmond Hill, Jimmie Aundrea Bell and Kiki Davieta Bell both of Collins; siblings, James Holland of CA, Neil Potter of Warner Robbins, Patricia (Edward) Lewis of Claxton, Houston Holland of Cobbtown, Brenda Beecher of Reidsville, Annie Sue Rushing of Cobbtown, Juanita Holland (Amos) Claxton, Robert (Diane) Holland of Harlem, George (Dianne) Holland of Cobbtown, Tommy (Jan) Holland of Cobbtown, Mary (Gene) Currin of Metter, and Teresa (Larry) Hightower of NC; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends at Low Country Cremation and Burial on Saturday, December 28, 2024, beginning at 10:00am with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with Rev. Andrew Nelms officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Church Cemetery.
