Mr. Don Oliver , age 72, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia surrounded by his family. The Collins native had lived in Claxton for thirty two years before moving back to Collins twenty years ago. He had worked in construction for most of his life. He was known as a “Jack of all Trades.” He loved to fish, hunt and work in his garden. Mr. Don was of the Baptist faith and was a loving husband, daddy, and papa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Sula Johnson Oliver and a sister, Hilda Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Fay Callaway Oliver; children, Donna (Pete) Roussin of East Waterboro, ME, Suzette (Harold Stapleton) Allen of Macon, and Brian (Sue) Oliver of Rincon; brother, Hilbern (Elaine) Oliver of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Mandi Allen, Victoria Rogers, and Mark Roussin; great grandson, Ashton Smith; loved as children, Tina Daily, Lenora Mathis, Dana Shepperd, Pama Carraway, Cindy Piazza, Brad Anderson, Chris Martin, and Chris Scott; uncle, Elvin Johnson of Collins; aunt, Faye Screen of Collins, several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 1, 2016 beginning at 6:00pm from the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory, service conducted by Reverends Marty Walker and C.B. Waters. Interment will follow in the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lew Graham, Brian Schwallenberg, Wesley Bradley, Mark Dillard, Donald Phillips and Todd Gromes.
