Donnie Mae Corbitt

Donnie Mae Cason Corbitt, age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, the 29^th of September, 2023.  Donnie Mae was born in Blackshear, Georgia, on September 26, 1931 to her mother, Lealer Pearl McCarthy Cason and her father, Monroe Hansel Cason. She had 6 siblings (3 of which preceded her in death).  She loved them all.

At the age of 16, Donnie Mae met and married her sweetheart, Mason Wilbert “Red” Corbitt (deceased). They spent their first date singing gospel music while Red strummed the guitar.  This began a beautiful love song which lasted a lifetime.

Donnie Mae and Red had 5 children: Sandra Gayle Corbitt Fish (deceased), Wanda Sue Corbitt (deceased), Linda Dayle Corbitt Dean, Monroe Wilbert Corbitt and Timothy Mason Corbitt, along with 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. 

As a mother Donnie Mae was generous, loving and kind. She adored and spoiled her children and grandchildren as much as she possibly could!  Her love for her family was only surpassed by her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

At the age of 58, she made her friends and family proud by returning to school to earn her diploma from the Adult Education Center.

In her free time, Donnie Mae loved to cook for her family, crochet, quilt, sing, and write poetry. 

She was a caring woman who spent most of her life thinking about others. She always surrounded herself with her friends and family, where she felt most comfortable and loved.

She will be greatly missed by her family and especially her children:

A Memorial Service will be held for Donnie Mae Corbitt on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at The Pentecostals of Brunswick, 5608 New Jesup Hwy, Brunswick, GA 31523.  Please feel free to attend if you would like to pay your respects.
