Savannah

Savannah GA,

Doris Darlene Burch, age 62, passed away at Candler Hospital in Savannah on February 13, 2019 after an extended and brave battle with renal failure.  The Arkansas native grew up in the hardest of times.  In the beginning the family didn’t even have running water!  Back in those days, it was typical for young women to wed young and begin their lives early.  True to the times, she did marry Joel Melton Williams III and they had two children.  After 10 years, the couple’s marriage dissolved, and she became both father and mother to the children.  Looking back, her kids say that she was all they ever needed.  Ever determined to better her family, she decided to put herself through school and become a nurse.  Through hard work and determination and beating the odds stacked against her, she graduated from nursing school.  To celebrate, they danced to the song by Chubby Checker, “I heard it thru the grapevine”.  Later in her life, she remarried and continued her tireless work caring for and nurturing others thru the most difficult times of their lives in her career as a nurse.  She was born to be a caregiver, and that is just what she did; in her personal life and her professional career. She was truly one of God’s children and the people she has touched will never forget her.  Doris D. Burch is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Lee Anderson.

Left to cherish the precious memories they have made are her children, Jennifer Page Duncan and Jimmy Austin Williams; her brothers, Eddy and Kenny Wooten; grandchildren Kayan Tyler Ellis, Julieann Page Duncan, Zack Williams, Chandler Williams and Sierra Williams.

Her family was her pride and joy and she fiercely protected them.  In as much as she could not bear the thought of them weeping over her; she insisted that there be no memorial services.  Instead, she wanted them to cling to the memories they made in life and cherish those times.  In honoring this last request, there will be no formal services.

Low Country Cremation & Burial is serving the Burch family.
