Douglas Scott Miller, beloved husband, proud father, loving family man, and loyal friend passed away unexpectedly at home in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania on Friday, February 11, 2022.
Doug was born February 28, 1955 in Albany, NY, son of the late David Yagel and Geraldine (Dasher) Miller. He grew up in Connecticut and graduated from New Canaan High School in 1973 and went on to attendHartwick College in Oneonta, NY. He was an employee of Cigna for 34 years before retiring in 2018.
Doug’s generosity, kind heart, and sense of humor were an inspiration to all who knew him. Doug was a wonderful piano player who inherited his ability to play by ear from his dad. He would entertain family and friends with any type of music request – Classical, Pop, Rock N Roll, anything Beatles, or even hymns.
On July 5, 1993, he was united in marriage to Claire Rieber at Rome Primitive Baptist Church in Collins, GA. They called Pittsburgh, PA home for the last 28 years where they raised their children Aaron, Adam, and Charli. He gave up his adored NY Yankees to root for his local Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins teams.
He was predeceased by his parents David and Geraldine Miller, Father & Mother in-law Raymond Carl and Rose Marie Rieber; and brother-in-law Raymond M. Rieber. In addition to his wife and children, Doug is survived by sisters Nancy Tiedemann; Patricia (Kevin) Dillon, and Susan (Bob) Roth; in-laws Michael (Jeanne) Rieber; Debra Rieber; Vivian (Ted) Stanek; and Christine McArdle. He also leaves 9 nieces and 9 nephews as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews, and numerous cousins.
A private service was held for Doug in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
He will be laid to rest alongside his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents at the Rome Primitive Baptists Church cemetery in Collins, GA at a later date.
Low Country Cremation & Burial is coordinating interment services on behalf of the family.
