Glennville
Duann (Anderson) Kicklighter, age 87, passed away November 4, 2019 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia.
She was born August 9, 1932 to Dewey Jackson Anderson and Zona Mae (Cowart) Anderson. Duann was a graduate of Glennville High School and a member of Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. In her forties, she earned her LPN degree, finishing the highest in her class.
Duann was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, affectionately known as “MeMa”. She wore many hats: as a farmer’s wife, as a secretary at Rotary Mower, as it was then known, and as an exceptional southern cook and baker. She was well known for her famous chewies. She created an atmosphere of love that drew family home time and again.
She enjoyed travels to England, Scotland, Canada and throughout the American West with her brother and sister-in-law, WC and Freda Anderson.
She is predeceased by her devoted husband of 62 years, Elbert B. Kicklighter,her brothers WC (Freda) Anderson and Olva (Woody) Anderson, brothers-and sisters-in-law Gwen(Jack) Kennedy, Melba (Harry) Downs ,Margaret (Tom) Fussell, Fred Garrett, Maxine (Dick) Davis, and Sonny Kicklighter.
She is survived by her daughter Donna (Alex) Tootle, son David (Sue) Kicklighter, her grandchildren Lori (Jonathan) Dutton, Katie (Cal) DeLoach, Rachel (Nate Hahn) Kicklighter. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Anna Kate, Pearce and Dalex Dutton, Wilton, Cali and Miles DeLoach, and her sisters-in-law Mae Jo Garrett and Marilyn Kicklighter. Special thanks to her angel and friend, Tonya Norman Mutcherson.
The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30am on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with Elders Clay Gill and WH Durrence officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
