Eddie G. Tirrell, Jr., age 52, passed away Wednesday November 12, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The Rhode Island native moved to South Georgia at an early age and made this home for most of his life. Growing up in the South he was a lover of everything “outdoors”. Among his many outdoor hobbies, fishing and gardening was at the top of the list. He was known to grow some of the most beautiful ornamental flowers around. Additionally he was an avid reader and lover of music; especially rock and roll. He was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church, and very involved in the food bank at the church. Eddie was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Kay Tirrell.
He is survived by his father, Ed Tirrell Sr. of Stockbridge; daughter Hope Tirrell of Atlanta; sisters, Deena (Jim) Hudson of Ludowici and Lisa Waters of Glennville; 2 nieces Meranda Wheeler and Claire Hudson; 4 nephews Mark Waters, Dillan Waters, James Hudson, and Chris Hudson; great nephew Devin Wheeler; numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from Red Hill Baptist Church and internment will follow in the Tirrell Family Cemetery, with Reverend Wayne Higginbotham officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Red Hill Baptist Church Food Bank, 2574 Red Hill Road, Jesup, GA 31545 or the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718
