Edna Kay (Rudler) Battaglia

Edna “Kay” Battaglia, age 85 passed away on February 23, 2016 in the arms of her husband of 65 years. She then went into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Kay was born January 6, 1931 in Linesville, PA. to Martin and Edna Rudler and was the oldest of two children. Kay spent her early life in Linesville where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She loved sports and excelled in basketball. Her family moved to Kane, PA. in her junior year of high school and was a graduate of Kane High School Class of 1949. It was in Kane where she met the love of her life Frank Battaglia. While Frank was in the Army, Kay and Frank tied the knot in 1950. While Frank was working for Bell Telephone, they moved to Custer City and then Bradford, PA. where Kay gave birthday to 3 boys over a 7-year period. In 1965, they moved to Warren, PA. and then in 1968 moved to Pittsburgh, PA. In 1998, Kay and Frank moved to Sun City, Hilton Head, the last stop of her earthly journey. Kay’s entire life was dedicated to church, her husband and family. As a stay at home mom, she handled the household, teaching honesty, integrity and work ethic. Her house was spotless, she was a wonderful cook and simply loved being a mother. She was always at her best when she was surrounded by family.

Kay is survived by her husband, Frank C. Battaglia; sons, Edward O. Battaglia, Frank C Battaglia, Richard W. Battaglia, daughters-in-law, Maureen Battaglia, Nancy Battaglia, Michelle Battaglia, grandchildren, Kenny Battaglia, Kylie Nicholas, Nicholas Battaglia, Trisha Murphy, Cullen Battaglia and Dane Battaglia; great-grandchildren, Blake Battaglia, Colby Murphy, Owen Murphy and Palmer Nicholas; brother, Edward Rudler and wife Harriet.

Services will be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bluffton United Methodist Church in memory of Kay Battaglia.

Low Country Cremation Services and Burial is serving the Battaglia family.
