Eleanor Oliver Jarriel, age 89, went home to glory on Monday, August 30, 2021, at her home in Collins. She was born in Polk County, Florida, to Ottis and Florrie Oliver. She is a native of Tattnall County and graduated from Reidsville High School.
She worked for Rosebud Manufacturing Company and Toombs County Manufacturing Company before her retirement. For many years, she volunteered at the St. Christopher’s Clothes Basket in Collins. This store later became Eleanor’s Plunderbox where she helped her daughter serve the people of Collins and surrounding counties find their special treasures and clothed many of the local children and adults as well. Everyone knew “Miss Eleanor” by the little store on Main Street.
Eleanor loved to do good deeds for people. She baked many cakes and delivered them to shut-ins and those who were not feeling well. She always made the best dressing. Her house was as “clean as a whistle”.
She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Claxton. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jason Jarriel, parents, Gladston and Florrie Lynn Kennedy, father, Ottis Oliver; half brothers Billy Oliver, Harry Oliver,
She is survived by daughter, Gail West (Robert), of Reidsville, daughter, Beth (Jimmy) Barnett of Bellville, son, Louie (Francine) Jarriel of Collins, daughter, Sue (Gonzalo) Garcia of Claxton, and daughter, Kim (Rob) Johnson of Columbia, SC., a special friend and caregiver Mary Lou Helm of Collins, half sisters Christine Tucker (Preston) and Patricia Dover, eleven grandchildren thirteen great grand children, and one great great grandchild. – also, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Reverends Matt Brady and David Lamm officiating. Interment will follow in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Threatte, Jacob Jarriel, Braden Johnson, Lee Jarriel, David Jarriel, and Bryden Johnson
