Elmer James Walsh

Elmer James “Jim” Walsh age 81, passed away Tuesday December 24, 2019 at Serenity Place in Dublin.  He was born March 1, 1938 in Bristol, Virginia to Charles and Leona Mae Higgs Walsh.  Mr. Walsh was a Veteran of the United States Navy and retired sewing machine mechanic.  He had worked many years with Claxton Manufacturing and Roydon Wear.  He enjoyed hiking, landscaping, and was a faithful member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville.  He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings,Nina Crane, Gladys Griffith, Essie Biggs, Gertrude Cunnington, Willard Walsh, Albert Walsh and Paul Walsh.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Callaway Walsh of Reidsville; sons, Glenn (Brenda) Walsh of Collins and Chris (Brianne) Walsh of Hagan; step son, Brian (Sheila) Sheffield of Glennville; sisters, Berta Lyon of Greenville, TN and Sylvia Hutson of Kingsport, TN; sister-in law, Janie Walsh of Bluff City, TN; grandchildren, Mandi Walsh and Justin (Taylor) Walsh of Metter; numerous nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00pm on Sunday December 29, 2019 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Reidsville.  Funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 am on Monday December 30, 2019 at Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville with Reverends Jeffery Barnard, David Moxley, and Eddis Kirkland officiating.  Interment will follow at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with honors rendered by the US Navy.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Carter, Randy Chandler, Matt Clark, Walt Rogers, Mark Caruso, and Tommy Lanier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Enoch Cowart, Kenneth Richardson, Johnny King, Tim Young and Neal Oliver

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville, PO Box 735, Reidsville, GA 30453

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Walsh family.
