Mrs. Elzie "Mae" Whitaker Poole, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 following a short illness. She was a homemaker and had lived many years in Montgomery and Wheeler Counties but had resided in Laurens County for the last few months. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Poole, a granddaughter, Lilly Poole, parents, Elzie and Margaret Whitaker and a sister, Ellen Ogle.
Mrs. Poole is survived by one daughter, Magen Poole of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Stacy (Karen) Poole of Richmond Hill, and Ben Poole of Mt. Vernon; ten grandchildren, Gracen, Marissa, Paige, Jack, Chelby, Christy, Kyle, Kayla, Emily, and Layton; one great grandchild, Kinsley; seven sisters, Shelia Atkins of Ailey, Brenda Whitaker, Paula Whitaker, Louise West, and Faye McLendon all of Adrian, Sue (James) Lynn of Collins, and Renna (Colin) Clements of Vidalia; four brothers, Lonnie Whitaker of Higgston, Randall (Beckie) Whitaker of Adrian, Tony (Scherry) Whitaker of Harrisburg, Illinois, and Bob (Nell) Whitaker of Vidalia.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Blockers Chapel Church, 2019 Thompson Pond Road in Vidalia.
