Reidsville,
Mrs. Emilee Coleman Miles, age 95 passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Reidsville on February 24, 1923 to William Remer and Frances Moseley Coleman. She graduated from Reidsville High School in 1940 and then attended Bolen-Draughton Business College in Savannah. She then returned to Reidsville to work at Dixie Gas Company and the Tattnall County Tax Office, and on to her career at Ft. Stewart where she retired after 19 years as Supervisor of the Directorate of Contracting.
In 1949, she married the love of her life, S.B. Miles and was married 37 years. She was a wife, mother and grandmother of three generations of the Georgia State Patrol, and remained closely involved with the GSP families. She always looked forward to family gatherings and the Holidays when everyone would come to “Mema’s”. She loved to travel and always told the kids and grandkids to keep a bag packed and go when you can.
She was a true Southern Lady whose love was unconditional. Always bringing the last sheep into the fold and making sure her family was okay. She was never seen when she wasn’t looking like a million dollars and ready to have visitors or go out to eat. Always smiling and encouraging others, she loved to ride her red golf cart around her beautiful yard and admiring her many flowers. Fishing was an important part of her and she never missed a chance to go with her children, grandchildren or great grands. She always looked forward to July when she would go Daytona Beach and see friends and relax by the pool. July 2017 was a very special time, since she had the five generations with her.
She was a member of Rome Primitive Baptist Church for over 63 years, the Reidsville Garden Club for 60 years, where she was President in 1962. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of the Red Hat Foxy Ladies, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Jerry) Davis and Sid (Lana) Miles all of Shellman’s Bluff; sisters, Grace C. Bryant and Wanda C. Lynn of Reidsville; grandchildren, Melanie Davis Nix, Tina Davis (Mike) Fischlin, Lex (Katie) Monroe, Rus (Kerri) Monroe, Broc (Pam) Davis, Natalee Miles and Matthew Miles; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kay Garrison, brother, Billy Coleman and a sister Margaret Tidwell.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Thursday from the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Friday, March 30, 2018 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with the Reverend Marc Foster and Brother Jerry Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lex Monroe, Rus Monroe, Broc Davis, Matthew Miles, Landon Monroe, and Stevie Durrence.
